Computer Parts and Accessories
I gave away all my spare parts over ten years ago when I retired and down-sized.
Now I have accumulated more parts. Typically power bricks, cables and the like. These are available either for free, or a nominal donation to the Matthew Elementary School Library
As well I have some accessories that I use infrequently, such as a portable DVD drive and other accessories. These can be borrowed on receipt of a serious deposit, refunded in full when the device is returned in good condition.
Until I get my inventory of parts online, email me if you need a spare part and don’t want to pay for online purchase and delivery.
Example: (1)
Yesterday a cable arrived. I had ordered it online and believed it was the cable to charge and transfer data between my laptop and my LGK30 Android smart phone.
I was wrong.
I now have spent $30.13 on a cable that doesn’t work. For me.
Yes, I could return it, but I am bothered that that will cost me money (even the “free” returns costs are factored into the selling price; we all pay for free returns), but since the BELL store closed in town, I think “Why not hang on to it and pass it on to someone who can use it?
Here is the original carton, the cable, and my invoice for this factory-new item.
Detail of the invoice.
Suppose now that you need a cable to charge and transfer data with your computer.
You can go online, become overwhelmed by the variety and range of cables offered online, OR you can drop by my house and see if this cable works for you.
You can plug the cable into your phone and laptop and see if the cable charges AND transfers data.
If it does, you have saved yourself the worry of ordering online and hoping that it works. Or three hours or more on a trip to Clarenville, if they have a store that stocks these items.
What’s in it for me? You will get a reduced price and no wait for delivery. I will save myself the hassle of a trip to the post office and some postage. We will both be happy.
What else?
I have over the years amassed about a dozen power blocks. If your laptop power cable is broken or missing, you are welcome to browse my set and find a power block that matches yours.
I have memory sticks, cards, and a host of bits and pieces that may save you time and money, and the obvious problems we all meet when we order components online without the ability to inspect before buying.

Here is a quick view of my collection of power bricks.
To the right of the image is a universal adapter. If you are planning to travel to Europe or the UK soon, why buy an adapter when you will only use it for two weeks?

My carton of cables, everything from Desktop computer power cables through digital camera cables and a mouse, a WiFi router, and old backup drive.

My carton of gadgets. A digital camera, a couple of digital clocks (handy for checking the passage of time during a training course), a reading light that clips on to your book in the motel at night, and a brass 50-year calendar. Dial up the year, the month, …

Part of my collection of blank (new) CDs and DVDs. You know about those, right? –R, -RW, -…

Fancy making your own Christmas cards or Greeting cards? I save the pictures from received cards and re-use them.
On Christmas Eve when all the stores are closed, I still have cartons of unused cards.

I know that you can download PDF files nowadays, but still and all I collect the pamphlets that have accompanied new computers.
